Entry Fee
There is a $5.00 entry fee per entry. Please make cheques payable to Novel Ideas Bookstore and include with your entries. You may enter up to 3 entries in this contest.
Eligibility
This contest is open to writers aged 13 and older.
Deadline
Entries must be received no later than 11:59pm, December 31, 2009 (unless stated otherwise). You can submit your entries by regular mail or email.

Submitting Your Entry
- You may submit up to 3 entries
- Your manuscript must be typed, double-spaced on 8 1/2 x 11 size paper.
- DO NOT put your name on the manuscript!
- Each entry must include on a seperate piece of paper: the author's name, address, phone number, and email address.
- You also must include: the title of the manuscript, the contest name, the (exact) word count, and how you heard about the contest
- Word counts must be exact not estimates.
- Manuscripts must not exceed 5,000 words, or they may be disqualified
- Entries can be submitted by regular mail or they may be submitted by email (after payment of the entry fee is received).
To submit your entry by email
To submit your entry through email you must pay the $5 entry fee first. This
can be done through the mail, by requesting a payment form through email or by
paying on our site through pay pal. Once payment has been received, we will
send you a confirmation notice
informing you that you may submit your entry at any time before the deadline
(currently December 31, 2009). Make sure your email contains all the necessary
information as described in the "Submitting Your Entry"
section above. If possible, email entries should be submitted as text
within a letter, not as attached files.
*Please note
that email entries may lose their double-spacing. This WILL NOT result in
disqualification.

*Entries submitted without the fee will not be accepted, and the manuscript
will not be returned.
Official Rules
- Entries must be original and not previously published (online or in print).
- Entries must NOT contain the author's name.
- By entering this contest, author's agree that their entries may be published at least once on the Sioux Lookout Books or Novel Ideas Online websites.
- Author's retain full copyright to any manuscripts they submit to Novel Ideas Online.
- Winners must provide a photo and brief biography
- Entries submitted by mail must be typed, double-spaced on 81/2 x 11 size paper
- Entries submitted after 11:59pm, December 31, 2009 will not be eligible for this contest, but they may be eligible to carry on to future writing contests.
- Entries will not be returned, so keep a copy of the original
- The judges reserve the right to reject any manuscript that has excessive violence, profanity or sexual content.
Judging
The
contest will be judged blind, that is why we ask that manuscripts do not
contain the name of the author.
The judges reserve the right not to select winners (which we doubt will
happen), if, in their opinion, none of the entries are suitable to be published
online.
Remember, every submitted entry will be read by the judges, so make sure to
check your grammer and spelling and try to make your story as interesting as
possible.
